Chapter 26 Fall
All eyes were on Zayne as he did something incredible. Harald seemingly was the most confident and brash, but even he couldn\'t afford to walk relaxed in front of a monster whose fist was the size of his own.
"Hey, why aren\'t you doing anything? Do you really think your stare can scare me?" Zayne tilted his head as he looked at the monster, compared to the Black Wolf it wasn\'t intimidating at all, "Well, in that case, I\'ll start first."
Crackle.
With those words, Zayne stepped forward and he appeared behind the monster, next to its massive legs.
\'Its body is huge, but it also means it will be easier for me to hit the usually hard-to-reach points.\' Zayne muttered inwardly with a cold gaze before making a full turn at tremendous speed.
His blade, coated in a dense layer of blue energy headed for the back of the monster\'s knee, leaving on it a deep cut from which blood gushed as a few drops splashed onto his face.
"Roooooooooaaaaaaarrrrr!!!" The monster roared in pain, but Zayne wasn\'t going to stop there.
"Agh, you don\'t like it, right? Well, it\'s your fault for deciding to come to this forest. Fate is definitely not on your side." Zayne muttered quietly before stooping lower and with a sharp movement slicing the monster\'s Achilles tendon.
"Unbelievable..." Harald\'s eyes went wide watching the slowly falling monster who could no longer stand firmly on two legs, "Even though I\'m the doctor here, but he did it just perfectly..."
"What... What are you talking about?" Roland asked with a dazed look.
"This monster has a huge back, chest, and muscles, so obviously it all weighs a few tons. It takes very strong legs to hold that kind of weight, but if all the pressure for some reason comes down on one leg... something very bad could happen."
Tremble.
At the same moment, the monster\'s back touched the floor as its fall raised a massive cloud of dust that blew in all directions with a shockwave. The cave shook violently again as some of the knights had to dig their swords into the ground to keep from falling.
"Damn! I can\'t see anything!" Elin exclaimed, covering her face with her hand from the coming dust in her direction.
"ARGHHHHH!!!" The monster roared trying to get up, but it was impossible to do so with one leg.
Zayne swung with his coat, moving the dust out of his way, slowly stepping toward the monster\'s big head.
"Is something wrong? Why can\'t I see your arrogant expression anymore?" Zayne mockingly tilted his head staring straight into the monster\'s big eye that twitched from time to time, "You should have crushed me with that punch you did, for that was your only chance since it looks like now I\'ll get the whole pie all to myself."
The monster\'s pupil narrowed sharply as it experienced a whole new emotion - fear. Zayne wasn\'t a great wizard or a sword master, but it wasn\'t necessary, since to make someone afraid it was always possible to use the best remedy - the threat of death.
"ROOOAAARRRR!!!" The monster let out a piercing roar that now sounded more like a cry for help as the crystals on its back glowed brightly as if they could explode at any moment.
Roland\'s eyes went wide as he waved his hand, shouting, "Everyone, get down! Now!"
The knights immediately followed his command, and the next moment dozens of sharp crystals began flying out of the monster\'s back. Like blades, they flew at great speed in different directions, half stuck in the walls of the cave. The monster did this to wound Zayne, but since he was closest to the monster, it was easiest for him to dodge.
"You were counting on me to run back, weren\'t you?" Zayne asked sitting right in front of the monster\'s huge eye, which was almost as big as he was. All the crystals just flew over his head as it was a dead zone for them.
Zayne shook his head, "You picked the wrong time for us to meet, since now I\'m not running from my fears anymore, moreover, you don\'t even scare me. Although... it\'s not your fault. Maybe it\'s all about Fate looking at me, maybe Chaos set you up, though I\'m more of a believer that you\'re just unlucky. Luck is a special power even in this world, isn\'t it?"
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
The monster\'s body trembled as it tried to crawl away, clinging to the ground with its massive arms. Sure, it was unsuccessful, as Zayne reached the monster in a few steps and stopped it by placing his foot on its head.
"Stop running, there\'s no point. This battle gives me no pleasure, so consider it just business. Killing you will make me stronger, and that\'s exactly what I need." Zayne said calmly as he looked at his blade.
In fact, the monster could have easily tossed Zayne aside to keep crawling on, but the one-eyed was just too scared. It didn\'t matter that Zayne was several times smaller than a monster, none of that mattered since it was Zayne who was on top in their fight.
"You\'re lucky the sun is shining brightly on the surface right now and not the moon, otherwise your situation would be even worse..." Zayne muttered as his eyes suddenly went wide.
[Iron Blade
Physical Damage: 20 (24)
Magical Damage: 0 (20)
A common blade that can be bought from any blacksmith and most stores. Can be used for skinning or in combat, but it definitely won\'t be as effective as a sword.]
\'What the hell...? Why so much damage? Wait... If my blade has magical damage it means that the additional effect of my skill is working, but it\'s definitely still day outside...\' Zayne pondered as his gaze was caught by crystals glowing in the darkness like stars in the night sky.
"I see." Zayne nodded, "It\'s more complicated than I thought. Well, in that case, our fight will be over quickly."
At the same moment, Zayne gripped the blade tightly with both hands and thrust it into the monster\'s eye with all his might, completely calm, cold as ice.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Crackled.
Blood gushed out and the monster slowly died. There were no screams, no sounds of any kind, only a violent shudder that went through the monster\'s body in several waves until it reached its end.
Zayne slowly pulled out his blade with a slight sigh while many information screens appeared around him.
