Chapter 123 No Luck
Three days passed.
Three days of them looking through every nook and cranny, every rock overturned around the boundary, and they couldn\'t find anything at all.
And it was highly improbable that they would. Finding a small stone among the entire forest, that was the size of the small town, and in a small time of just five days, was almost impossible. The chances were slim to none.
And the chance that they could cover all that space was tough.
But Jake had gone through the boundaries. He covered one side and Myriad Arrows the other. The exit wasn\'t here, and it probably was going to be somewhere around the center.
"Alright. Maybe it is with some boss. I have to go to the center and see if there is some laboratory. It is the worst case scenario, but I am going to have to entertain it." Jake sighed.
He looked at his texts.
His DMs were as dry as the Gobi Desert. Myriad Arrows didn\'t have anything for him.
[Meet me in the base. We need to figure something out. This isn\'t working.]
He typed out as he started going toward the cave in the middle of the forest.
It wasn\'t exactly in the middle of the forest, but it was close. The center of the forest was even beyond the territories of the two giants whose demise he was responsible.
"Wait. I can cut through the forest and get to the cave through the center. Maybe I should look at what is in the center. We didn\'t look there even once." Jake thought.
Until now, it was a circle in this giant forest that they both tried to skirt. There were only dangerous monsters as one got closer to the center of the forest.
And Jake had previously surmised that the center would have someone who was too strong to handle. But now, they had no choice but to take a look.
Myriad Arrows would hesitate to do this. He was too worried that he would lose his equipment. But Jake didn\'t mind. Rewards only came if one took the right risks.
Jake was cutting through the forest, walking toward the center of the forest.
He knew the monsters that he needed to avoid to a certain extent. A few days of walking around, he had already gotten into a few skirmishes, and was in too many marathons running away from giant dinosaurs.
So he carefully walked around the territories, through the borders of the territories where the dinosaurs would not move as there were other giants on the other side of the border.
He didn\'t encounter a single monster on his way to the center, and that was by design. He knew that he wouldn\'t be encountering a single monster.
But as he got to the center of the forest, he stopped. Something was a little off. It was like he was walking through the same circles again and again.
He stopped next to one tree and climbed it to the top, trying to see what lay ahead.
p
This mountain was at the very center of the forest, and Jake didnt want to come here. The reason? The mountain was the home of the caves that all of these giant monsters called home.
One step into here and it would take all of his luck to leave it intact. And the last few days, he had exhausted all of his luck.
First with the legendary class, and then with the divine weapon, things were only going his way till now.
He couldn\'t rely on his luck even a little more.
As he reached the mountain itself, he was as careful as he could be. He had already tried his best to mask his smell by rubbing all sorts of leaves and mud over him. His face was gritty and his palms were covered in dirt.
He grabbed a rock and started climbing the mountain, holding on to dear life as he decided to reach the peak of the mountain.
Maybe the developers decided that the exit would be the one place that was unreachable. Maybe they decided that it would be at the exit.
He heard roars around, but he knew that none were directed at him. He was but an insignificant small pest that was climbing the giant mountain that they all called home.
He continued his journey upward, knocking the rocks next to him in random timings hoping that one of them would be what he was looking for.
But he had no luck. If the chances that they would find the stone at all were astronomical, then the probability that he would find the exit by knocking on the mountain here was just non existent.
Looking up again, he sighed. The way up was long and tough. It would take a few hours for him to climb to the top. After all, he would have to rest in the middle. His character only had so much stamina.
After climbing a few meters, he grabbed on to one of the bigger rocks that was on the edge, and sat on it. The slight profusion allowed him to take a breath, which he used to send a few more messages to Myriad Arrows.
[I am going to be a little busy. My bad. Keep looking. And do not be alarmed if my name suddenly goes grey for a small while. I am literally going to go court death.]
He then looked down. He was just a little higher than the ground, taller than the height of most dinosaurs for sure.
There were a few in the horizon, and none of them noticed him. None of them were bothered to look at the home of the giants that rules the forest.
Shaking his head, he looked back up.
"I still don\'t know why I am doing this." He sighed as he started his second stretch of climbing.
