Chapter 125 'Mad' Scientist

Jake\'s heart tightened. He knew that it would come to this at the end. And he hoped that it wouldn\'t. But one thing that he noticed was that the scientist in front of him didn\'t have a HP bar seen.

That meant one of two things.

She was an indestructible NPC. One that could control what happened in the boss realm.

Every single god was one, but they never appeared in the game, so rarely did someone get smitten by one of the gods.

And then, there were the NPCs that weren\'t meant to be battled. These NPCs also didn\'t have a HP bar, because they weren\'t supposed to die.

Jake hoped that it was the latter. If it was the former, then there were going to be more problems than just dying once. He could lose his karma, and he could lose many of his items in the inventory.

"It was not my intention to barge in. We accidentally came here, and we were looking for an exit to this place. After all, it is not our place to stay here without your permission." Jake stuttered.

"Haha." The woman chuckled lightly as she moved closer to the dinosaur capsule. She then looked at the screen next to it and tapped on it a few times.

"Where were we? Yes. You and your friend trespassed into my realm and now you want to leave, is it?" The woman asked, a smile on her face that was nothing but terrifying.

"Ummm." Jake didn\'t know what to say. He didn\'t know what answer the woman scientist wanted. And above, after a few hours, Myriad Arrows could come to this place.

If Jake survived till then, it was safe for him to come here and maybe they could leave the place.

But if it wasn\'t so, then Jake would have died, and he would revive fast enough to warn Myriad Arrows.

"Well then. You are interesting specimens though. Blessed by god to be immortal. I envy you people." The scientist said with her sweet voice as she came close to Jake, touching his arms, and looking closely into his eyes.

There was not a hint of lust in those eyes of her. Those sparkling eyes were eyes of curiosity.

"Envy? So she isn\'t immortal?" Jake thought. That was interesting to hear."

"Well then, I have some use for you. You aren\'t going die just yet." The scientist smiled as she walked past him and to another desk, looking at another computer and a few other results of tests that she was conducting.

Sigh!

Jake sighed with relief. He was worried that the scientist would want his life, but it turned out that it was the latter that was true. She was an NPC that wasn\'t meant to be battled. She was someone who gave quests and the sort.

"Alright then. I need your help. You won\'t die anyways, so you can do this with ease." She said as she kept looking at her screens, noting down a few results.

"I lost something in the forest. I went down there to take some results and I lost one of my computers. It was in one of the bigger dinosaurs\' territories, so I couldn\'t exactly retrieve it with ease." The scientist said.

"And you want us to retrieve it?" Jake asked.

He was worried about saying anything that would anger her.

"I know about your immortals. You can put things in the space that god has bestowed upon you, and when you do die, you revive with a few of those things. Unless your luck is truly bad, you will not lose the computer when you do die." The scientist said.

"So you know that we will die if we go in and grab that computer?"

"Obviously. Did you think that you stood a chance against the dinosaurs? Did you look at how strong they are? They are unbeatable, atleast for you. There is no way that you can defeat them." The scientist shook her head.

"And how are you so sure that the computer is even still intact? A single stomp from this giant dinosaur whose territory you dropped it in and it is going to get crushed into smithereens." Jake pointed out. He made sure that his tone was soft and respectful. He didn\'t want to come off as rude.

"None of my computers are going get destroyed. None of the ones that I take out to the field anyways. I am prepared to deal with the destruction that these dinosaurs can cause, so I made them a protective shield that can only be removed if someone who has this band touches it." The scientist explained.

Jake looked at what band she was pointing at.

It was a silicon band. One that was pink, had glitter in it, all the hall marks of it being made by a six year old girl. This was a joke, right?

If the protection was going to get removed by the band, where was the intense circuitry that made all of that possible? Where was the computer on a chip? This was just a rubber band.

The scientist seemed to read Jake\'s mind.

"The components are all inside. I hid them. Or else, they would take away from the beauty of the band, would they not?" The woman laughed.

Jake didn\'t have an answer to this question as well. Was she calling this decoration beauty? If she was a small girl, then Jake would have agreed with her, but in what universe did this look better than a high tech gadget that could rid a computer of its protective casing?

Jake sighed as he asked her a few more questions.

"Before we can take this quest, I have a few questions. First, do you have a map of the entire area? I will need it to make preparations. And second, if we do get this and give it to you, will you let us leave this closed realm?"
