It took Arthur Seventeen tries before he actually managed to grind the back of the Claw by a little bit.
"There we go," Arthur said with a smirk.
During these attempts, Arthur wasn\'t just repeating them exactly the same. That would be wrong as it would change nothing. What he was doing in fact was to adjust his force of grinding every time.
He needed it to be just enough that the surface of the Giant Dire Sewer Rat claw would be affected, but the overall integrity of the claw was still fine. He didn\'t wish to damage the claws themselves after all.
Doing it this way was a bit slow, but also allowed him to avoid any extra damage. The better the durability of the claw, the better the throwing knife that would be made from it.

With the exact force needed to grind the claw down, Arthur\'s progress was fast now. Five minutes later, he had ground the claw just the way he needed it to be.
>Player Arzhur has succeeded in grinding the Giant Dire Sewer Rat Claw<
"One down, five more to go!" Arthur removed the claw from the vise and put the next claw in.
>Player Arzhur has obtained a Trimmed Giant Dire Sewer Rat claw x 1<
Seeing that the description of the item had changed as well, Arthur knew he had succeeded.
>Player Arzhur has attempted to modify Giant Dire Sewer Rat Claw<
>Attempt has failed!<
He tried it again with the second claw, but his first attempt failed.
\'Hmm… what\'s different this time?\' Arthur focused on the feeling.
He had used the same force as before, and yet it hadn\'t worked.
>Player Arzhur has attempted to modify Giant Dire Sewer Rat Claw<
>Attempt has failed!<
\'Ah! The shape of the claw is a bit different. I need to adjust the angle accordingly.\' Arthur quickly understood.

>Attempt has Succeeded!<
With the change made his attempt succeeded and the notification appeared again.
\'Angle and force. Will keep those two in mind.\' Arthur took note.
He continued to grind the claw with the metal file and finished it after six minutes.

"Four more to go." Arthur now had a better experience and didn\'t have issues with the remaining claws.
Thirty minutes was all it took for him to finish grinding all of them down to the perfect shape.
>Player Arzhur has obtained a Trimmed Giant Dire Sewer Rat claw x 6<
He looked at the claws and laid them to the side for now.
"Time to work on the wooden block." Arthur moved on to the next part of the process.
For the Light Cedar Wood Block, the process was a bit different.
Arthur first placed the block on the table and used a stick of charcoal to make some markings. He made five equal lines on the block using a ruler, separating the block into six equal segments.
Then he picked up a saw and started to cut the Light Wood Cedar Block.

>Attempt has Succeeded!<
Unlike with the claws, Arthur succeeded on the very first try. The reason behind it was rather simple too. The success of modifying a material depends on its complexity and toughness of it.
It was difficult with the Giant Dire Sewer Rat claws since they were tougher than the Light Cedar Wood and one also needed some skill in knowing what angle to grind it in. With these factors added in, the task becomes more difficult.
But with the Light Cedar Wood Block, it was a simple process. The possible failure point would be in the sawing of the wood itself, but that was mitigated by using a proper ruler to make equal marks.
After that, it was just a matter of using a decent saw, which was easy to get in the workstation of the Blacksmith.
>Player Arzhur has succeeded in sawing the Light Cedar Wood Block<
>Player Arzhur has obtained a Light Cedar Wood Plank x 1<
\'That went well.\' Arthur continued his work and repeated the process four more times.
>Player Arzhur has obtained Light Cedar Wood Plank x 5<
Having obtained the planks, Arthur now needed to shape them. Right now they were flat and wide, which wasn\'t really good for holding.
\'Just need a simple straight handle.\' Arthur used the charcoal stick to make more markings on the planks.

Arthur then used the saw again and cut the planks according to the markings.
>Player Arzhur has succeeded in sawing the Light Cedar Wood Plank<
But Arthur\'s work wasn\'t done here. He then picked up a chisel to shape the wood segment until it was somewhat hexagonal. He then further smoothed it out into a round shape using a scraper.
>Player Arzhur has obtained a Low Quality Light Cedar Wood Handle x 1<
"Phew~ that worked. Though it\'s a bit rough." Arthur could see that the quality of the handle had suffered due to a lack of his skill.
But he didn\'t mind that and repeated it, till he was finished with them all.
>Player Arzhur has obtained a Low Quality Light Cedar Wood Handle x 5<
With all the handles ready, all that was left was for Arthur to attach them to the claws.
"Now comes the crucial part…" Arthur muttered, gathering his focus.
