Chapter 231 - The Bizarre Death (Part One)
Family Jing was a tremendously wealthy family, and even a small part of their properties would be attractive for many people.
Their family had been in business for hundreds of years with each aspect connected tightly to the other and it was hard to shake any part. Out of the two highest-level deputy presidents of Family Jing, one was the grandson of a high positioned leader and the other was the son-in-law of a cadre. As for the other deputy presidents, they all had strong backgrounds. Family Jing had taken each aspect into consideration.
“Ji Bo’s fiancée, Lan Yu whom you talked about, seems to have come from nowhere. But judging from the current situation of Family Ji which has problem both inside and outside, they wouldn’t allow a nameless woman to marry their excellent heir. You better check her background.”
Jing Yichen nodded and spoke after a moment of silence. “Can she be from Family Yang?”
Jing Zhongxiu looked cold and bit cruel in the bright light. “Family Yang wanted to take action against us ages ago. They even tried to hit us three years ago and took away resources worth tens of billions of yuan from us. They have been ruined right now, but many of them are still at large. We better cut off their roots as soon as we can. If she is really from Family Yang, then she will have to face death. As for Yang Wenshu, my men have found her in South Korea and she will be brought back in a couple of days in front of Ning.”
Jing Yichen nodded in approval. Yang Wenshu had forced her mother to die. This woman had to be given to Shangguan Ning to deal with. Ning was definitely not going to let her die so easily.
“Family Yang is in a precarious situation right now. Their remaining people are struggling. You and Ning must be very careful. Our moles at Family Ji told us that they are planning something, so they can’t be ignored either.”
Jing Zhongxiu had not planned to say these words, because he knew that Jing Yichen was more cautious than him and had been paying attention to the move of those famous families in A City. But he couldn’t help himself today, probably because he had drunk some wine or maybe because his son wasn’t pushing him away right now.
Jing Yichen felt warm in his heart, because his father hardly ever spoke and almost never showed his concern to him. At this moment, however, he was willing to do both.
The father and the son talked for some more time and exchanged some information about the powerful families in the country.
Shangguan Ning put her arms around his neck the moment Jing Yichen came to the room. She asked happily, “What did the two of you talk about for such a long time?”
Looking at both of them chatting comfortably, she felt very happy inside her heart. Real father and son should not hate each other for so long, despite the death of an important woman. Sitting in Heaven, Zhao Qing might not want to see her son and husband so distant from each other. She must also be wishing that the father and son could get along well with each other.
Jing Yichen didn’t want Shangguan Ning to hear about those dangerous things. So, he said, “Nothing, it was just about work.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t ask anything else. She found a set of clothes which Huang Lihan had not worn before and urged him to freshen up.
The following day, the four of them got up early and soon went their own way after breakfast.
Shangguan Ning realized that Jing Yiran who was always in her office wasn’t there this morning. She was happy to see that but soon got to know the reason for it.
Zhang Rong was in a car accident the previous night and had passed away.
Jing Yichen looked grim. He turned around ready to leave. “I need to go home.”
Shangguan Ning held his arm and said with a heavy look, “I will come along as well!”
They got to know about the entire episode on their way and arrived at Family Jing soon.
Zhang Rong, who barely went out, unexpectedly had driven out last night after receiving a call. Then her car banged against a speeding car on the Bay Highway and both cars were destroyed. The two drivers were sent to the hospital straight away but they still died within an hour.
At the time of the accident, Zhang Rong wasn’t carrying any ID with her and her phone also got destroyed in the accident. The hospital couldn’t find the family of the dead woman until seven in the following morning. Jing Yiran had gone to the hospital to identify the body.
What was peculiar was that the way Zhang Rong died was exactly the same as how Zhao Qing had died years back. They almost died at the same time of the day.
Zhang Rong’s body was not cremated. Instead, it was brought back to Family Jing by Jing Yiran and placed in a mourning hall outside the graveyard of Family jing.
Jing Zhongxiu, Jing Tianyuan and Mo Lan who had just come back from a trip abroad looked solemn. It was confirmed that the body was Zhang Rong’s.
When Jing Yichen and Shangguan Ning arrived, the servants of Family Jing were carrying Zhang Rong’s body into a black cremation car.
Jing Yiran had no tears in his eyes. But he looked scarily pale as if the pain inside his heart was going to burst out at any moment.
Seeing Jing Yichen coming towards him, he threw himself upon him as a mad man and started to punch him in the face.
Jing Yichen was faster than Jing Yiran. He dodged his attack and then punched him right back.
Jing Yiran fell down but got up quickly and threw himself at Jing Yichen without a care.
Jing Yichen frowned and then kicked him away uncourteously.
Lying on the ground in pain, Jing Yiran had blood coming out of his lip and bellowed angrily with hands over his chest. “It is you who killed my mother. No one else would have done it. You are taking revenge. I will not forgive you. I will kill you!”
Everyone standing there got startled. But Jing Yichen had no expression on his face. He spoke in a cold voice, “She killed an innocent woman ages ago and lived such a comfortable life for so many years. She should have died earlier. Same for you, if you want to keep her company, I can make your wish come true now!”
He didn’t explain that he had nothing to do with Zhang Rong’s death. Instead, he was making everyone think of him as the killer.
