Chapter 341 - Zheng Jing’s Girlfriend (Part One)
Chapter 341: Zheng Jing’s Girlfriend (Part One)
After hearing Zheng Lun’s story, Shangguan Ning felt her heart ache for a long time.
Everyone had a difficult life and Zheng Lun had been really lucky to run into Zheng Jing when she was young, otherwise she might not have had a long lifespan with the human trafficker.
Apparently, that was what Zheng Lun also thought.
She poured the tea for Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan and said smilingly, “I am already very grateful to have a family like this. I want to serve my parents when they grow old to express my gratitude.”
Zhao Anan had only heard about the rumor that Zheng Lun was not her parents’ real daughter. Today after she heard the story, she knew that she had had a very bad childhood.
She decided not to bully Zheng Lun any more.
Also, she was going to help Zheng Lun to pursue her real love.
No one said that siblings shouldn’t get married. They were not real siblings, and they could get married if they wished.
She had a different ideology from Shangguan Ning who was a bit conservative. She did whatever she wanted otherwise she would not have gotten pregnant at the age of 17.
After talking about her past, Zheng Lun suddenly felt that a load had been lifted from her chest.
She used to get very anxious when some children asked her if she had been picked up from the street and her real parents had abandoned her.
But after growing up, she knew clearly that her parents regarded her as their real daughter and pampered her in every possible way and that they would never desert her.
Same went for her brother who loved her and did whatever he could as a brother.
Therefore, she was now brave enough to reveal her past to other, not because she wanted to be with her brother but because they had given her confidence and courage.
For so many years, she had never considered finding her real parents. When she first came to Family Zheng, Mr. Zheng had tried to find the parents for her but failed. After Zheng Lun grew up, she herself had lost the interest to seek them.
She regarded this place as her home and everyone in the family regarded her as their treasure. She had never thought about going back to her real parents.
She didn’t know whether her parents had sold her or had she been kidnapped and brought to A City. The past was blurry in her memory. The only hazy memory that she had was that there was one person who kept scolding her and said that she was useless and lazy and that she shouldn’t be kept at home any more...
They were talking when Mrs. Zheng asked them to come downstairs for lunch.
They went downstairs and sat at the table. As they watched Mrs. Zheng and the servant putting out the strawberry cake, they were suddenly reminded of the scene when they had tossed cakes at each other. All of them burst out laughing and became cheerful.
They had not yet started the lunch when Zhao Anan rushed to the living room and brought the tortoises from the living room to the dining room. She said excitedly, “Lun, how come you managed to keep so many little pets alive?”
What did that mean?
Shangguan Ning felt helpless about Zhao Anan who kept saying strange words.
“Why can’t I seem to keep them alive? Lun, can you give me two of them?”
Zheng Lun smiled gently and said, “Of course, here are the two biggest ones for you. It is very easy to keep the tortoises. What you need to do is to feed them every single day so that they can live well.”
Zhao Anan got really pleased as she brought out a small turtle and fiddled with it. The little turtle nestled inside the shell, refusing to show its head.
Zheng Lun looked at Shangguan Ning and said, “Ning, do you want one? I will be happy to give a couple of them to you.”
Shangguan Ning shook her head instantly, “No, thanks. I am not that patient or good. The turtles would suffer if they live with me.”
She had not had a good experience of keeping pets, because the kitties and dogs which she kept as a young girl, died one after another and she had been devastated by their deaths, fearing that she had killed them. But later, she got to know that they died due to the poison which Yang Wenshu had gotten for her.
If the pets she kept, died, she would be sad for a very long time. So she decided not to keep pets any more.
The three of them were talking when a servant from Family Zheng walked in happily. She said to Mrs. Zheng, “Lady, Master is here!”
Mrs. Zheng got slightly startled and smiled, “This boy, he talked about not returning home for lunch this morning but here he is. Good that I prepared more food, otherwise Lun’s guests would not have got any. He can eat a lot. In fact, he can eat a huge cow for one meal!”
Zheng Lun also heard the servant’s voice. She couldn’t wait and rushed out.
Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan got up and followed her out.
They had just come to the living room when Zheng Jing walked in.
Zheng Lun went up happily and called him. “Brother...”
She had just spilled the word when her voice stopped.
Because Zheng Jing was not alone. Next to him was a slender and tall woman who was holding onto Zheng Jing’s arms. They looked like a couple.
Zheng Jing’s face paled instantly. What greeted her eyes almost broke her down.
Shangguan Ning sensed that something was not right. So she gestured to Zhao Anan and they came to support Zheng Lun on each side.
Shangguan Ning greeted Zheng Jing courteously, “Greeting, Officer Zheng, who is this lady...”
Zheng Jing could see his sister’s reaction but pretended to ignore it. He greeted Shangguan Ning, “Hello! Lun has been talking about inviting you over and mom has been making full preparations for your arrival. Do have fun today! Mom cooks well!”
He then presented the girl next to him in a very formal way. “This is my girlfriend, Zhu Ruotong. She is also a police officer. We attended the same military school. Ruotong, this is Shangguan Ning...”
Zheng Lun didn’t hear any words that followed afterwards. What she had heard was “my girlfriend” and then she felt her heart break.
So brother had got a girlfriend now...
Was she soon going to have a sister-in-law?
Why did she feel as if heaven had fallen down...
