Chapter 420: Blocked out
Chapter 420: Blocked out
Basic knowledge crystals were the foundation to establish one’s knowledge about a specific topic.
This foundation could be built up with intermediate and advanced knowledge crystals one could procure by completing the respective intermediate and advanced dimension missions. This made each type of knowledge crystal of the same topic extremely important for mankind.
Thus, seeing that Shane rejected helping solve the necessary missions to acquire them caused Talia to frown because it was odd for her boss to behave like this!
However, knowing Shane, she couldn’t help but become curious. She waited for a short moment, revealing her hesitation before she asked.
“Okay….then, do you have a better idea?”
Until now, everything had worked pretty well, if one were to ignore external factors like the fact that the human race was slowly splitting into several factions, but this was bound to happen.
As such, everyone was relatively satisfied despite the dangers and misfortune mankind had to face in the near future.
Looking at Shane, who was still extremely calm, Talia had figured out that he might have a better plan which caused her to remain silent and wait, hoping that her evaluation about Shane had been correct.
“We need Miriam and the Conquerors to conquer more regions in the Primordial dimensions. Furthermore, they have to protect the miners, herb gatherers, and so on once they’ve finally conquered a region. It’s probably even more dangerous than it was two weeks ago and time is what we have the least!
Just let me go alone and I’ll finish the missions!”
While the others eyed him weirdly, Aunt Loris, who was by far the most emotional amongst everyone present, was already agitated. No sooner had he said those words she jumped up from her chair, ready to lecture Shane about the dangers he would have to face.
However, before she could even start, she shot a glance towards John Stella, who looked at his son with squinted eyes and a serious expression.
At that moment, Loris noticed that both Shane and John were staring at each other which caused her to swallow down her anger towards Shane as she assumed that it was his father’s turn to lecture his son!
Yet, instead of delivering a lecture, John simply asked two questions before waiting for Shane’s reply.
“You’ve finally chosen your occupation, right? Are you confident of defeating the Dark Ice elf who almost killed you during the Primordial tournament?”
Shane thought he had told everyone that he had chosen a soul world awakening and that the occupation he wanted to choose had been unveiled.
‘Maybe I forgot it?’ He thus thought before answering,
“If I were to fight Megane once again, I would be able to defeat her!”
However, he didn’t add the next words that died on his tongue ‘…that is, if she hasn’t entered the Master rank yet…’
John nodded his head after hearing Shane’s answer before he said confidently,
“Alright, then you should go alone. If you need help just ask for the necessary resources and the Conquerors or Miriam. They might be needed somewhere else, but the knowledge crystals are amongst the most important items we’re lacking right now!”
At that moment, Shane thought that it had been much easier to convince his family than he had estimated, only to see that Aunt Loris stared at his father with a wide open mouth, appalled at John’s indifference.
“Am I the only one of the opinion that this is bullshit?! We have yet to transfer everything to the soul bound world of Shane and you want to send him to a suicidal mission…alone??”
It was evident how difficult the missions were if even the combined forces of Miriam and the Conquerors were not strong enough to complete the necessary missions and obtain permission to purchase a knowledge crystal!
As such, Loris’ anger was logical, only for Shane to intervene before anything could happen.
“Don’t worry aunty, I’ve undergone a lengthy procedure that changed my entire body. You could say, I’m an entirely new existence!!
Furthermore, my soul bound world is now called soul world.”
Using this as an introduction, Shane began to explain everything he had understood about his occupation and the changes his new bloodline brought forth!
Nobody had expected to hear an overly complex explanation of what had happened to Shane during the last two weeks, however, that was exactly what occurred right now.
As such, John and the others who had their hands full with things they had to pay attention to for the next few weeks, were flooded with information that sounded ridiculous, yet amazing.
After Shane had finished his explanation, everyone went silent and the only sound that echoed through the large hall was that of an attendant’s pen that dropped to the ground.
A few minutes passed before Aunt Kia was done digesting the information as she remarked,
“So to sum it up, your tamed beasts have become your soulbonds which are connected to your soul… As for your soul, it’s the soul world core that was the planetary core of the soul world we had planned to use for everything, right?
Your innate taming skill vanished, but the sub-abilities have become stronger, including the amplification of every soulbond you’ve received while their affinities have been inherited by you?
That’s…amazing…I guess?
But…does that mean your soul world can’t generate mana, and can we even enter it now?”
Despite looking shocked, Aunt Kia had analysed the situation pretty well.
As such, she could clear everything before she returned to the main subject; his soul world.
Shane smiled at his aunt’s reaction and he combined the information in his mind before saying.
“The naturally generated mana inside the soul world is not high, and not yet comparable to that on Igra, but it will increase as long as the soul world continues to grow with me.
Furthermore, we can purchase mana generating items, right?
I still have 120 Supreme tickets left, and they should be more than enough to purchase something good in the Hidden Shop of the basic primordial dimensions!”
Once Shane had finished his short evaluation of the soul world’s mana situation, the others had regained their senses.
The news about the [Descendant of the Ancient] occupation had been unexpected and even John was astonished to know that his son had awakened some sort of bloodline that seemed to be hidden within their own race!
Shane himself didn’t know how strong he had become, but since he had seated himself on the chair, he had experimented with all four affinities he had obtained!
While the Darkness affinity was by far the easiest to use, the Spatial and Nature affinity were the most difficult, followed by the Wood affinity that was somewhere in the middle.
He could tell that the inherited affinities’ strength was correlated to his soulbonds’ comprehension and mastery they had achieved.
As such, he could use any affinity, at most, to the extent his soulbonds were able to release them!
Despite this restriction, it was better than Shane expected which made him recall that he had yet to see the lesser forest spirit’s status panel.
This caused him to smile dryly as he quickly accessed his youngest soulbond’s status panel.
Suddenly, Shane’s eyes widened as he received a notification.
[The host is unable to access the status panel of |lesser forest spirit| as well as any information related to the limited occupation |Descendant of the Ancient|! This is a means to restrict the host from relying on the system’s information and to learn how to procure and combine information for himself!]
Shane couldn’t believe what he saw, and he wanted to throw a fit, however realised that he was amongst a large group of people. Thus, he forced himself to take a deep breath and calmed himself down.
Adjusting himself, he tried out several things, only to notice that the system had really blocked him out from accessing, let alone using anything related to his new occupation.
This was extremely annoying, and Shane clearly remembered that he had been able to access certain information earlier!!
‘I can’t even look at the [Soulbonds] tag anymore…was this restriction just implemented?’
It sounded ridiculous, but Shane thought that this ridiculous thought could have been the most reasonable!
There were several things he had to test out now, but the strength of his affinities should be roughly the same, on the Highest-basic mastery.
However, that had become negligible because Shane had to figure out how to evolve his soulbonds, as well as increase their quality, otherwise, it would be extremely difficult to advance his soulbonds’ strength over time.
Shane could still feel his taming ability deep within him, but it was just more difficult to access it than before.
Maybe, this was because the system had always accessed his ability and now he had to do it by himself, but at least, he had a clue to take a look at.
